Star of Texas Fair & Rodeo

The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo is held annually at the Travis County Expo Center, less than 12 miles from the Holiday Inn Austin NW Arboretum Hotel. This is the world's 5th largest indoor, regular season ProRodeo event.
For over 70 years the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo has grown from a simple show featuring 16 animals into one of Austin's premier events. Bronco riding, barrel racing, and steer wrestling are just some of the many ProRodeo competitions spectators can delight in watching. In addition, Rodeo Austin hosts daily concerts, a carnival, and culinary events including a three-day barbecue battle. There are even activities for the younger cowboys and cowgirls, such as Mutton Bustin which allows kids ages five to seven to ride a sheep for six seconds.

The Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo is more than just Rodeo entertainment. They created the Scholarship Program in 1981. As one of Texas’ largest non-profit provider, they have awarded more than $4.5 million in college scholarships to deserving Texas students.
